I Survived!

Hi Everyone!

Yes, it's true. I survived the Danskin triathlon. I was unprepared for the swimming portion of the event and found it to be quite a nightmare. I had to swim a half mile in a lake, in Wisconsin, in September, and I didn't have a wet suit. After much profanity and heavy breathing, I did manage to paddle my way across the lake. The biking and running were a breeze compared to that experience.

To those of you who came to see me in St. Charles and couldn't find me, I am so sorry. I was there on Friday but could not set up on Saturday morning because the tent I was in was dripping so badly that my tables and some of my display items were wet. I did not want my jewelry to get ruined. Note to self: no outdoor events in October!

I am looking forward to my event next week on the 28th at Martini Park in Chicago. As far as I'm concerned, any event that is happening at a place with the word "martini" in its name is going to be fun. I hope to see you there!

Indie Designer Event

Hi Everyone!

Just spent a fun weekend hanging with other Chicago Indie Designers at the Oakbrook Shopping Center. It's an outdoor mall and the weather was beautful (mostly). We were all there to showcase and sell our latest designs. I love being around such creative and talented artisans. It's so inspiring. Plus, my pieces were very well received (which is always encouraging) and the people were SO nice. I will definitely be back!

I am finally getting around to updating my website. My Events page should be up in the next day or so, but check back often because I am firming up many more events. There will also be many new pieces of jewelry on the site so be sure and check those out as well.

Back to work....it never ends!

Summer Time

I can't believe summer is almost over. I guess I have been having too much fun because I can see I have been neglecting my website. I apologize to those of you who visit me here regularly. Stay tuned because there will be lots of new stuff coming to custombaubles.com. I have tons of new baubles that you will be able to check out shortly. I have a busy fall and winter planned with all sorts of fun and interesting events that you will be able to learn about on my Events page. And I will be adding a few other surprises that you will just have to check out for yourself.

I am off to Michigan for the weekend to spend time with family and stock up on fresh blueberries. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. Spend the few remaining days left wisely...don't waste them working!

Busy With Baubles

I feel so lucky to be complaining about being busy. My new designs are selling so fast I don't have time to get them on my website for everyone to see. I will keep trying.

The International Gem & Jewelry Show is in Chicago this weekend, and I can't wait to check out the latest beads, stones and findings. It's like a big treasure hunt! The hardest part is exercising self control since I can't have everything I want....isn't that always the case?

The summer is already filling up with events. I will update my Events page as soon as I have firm dates on everything. Until then, just watch for my emails. That's it for now.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Everyone--I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of the moms out there a very happy Mother's Day. As most of us know, being a mom is one of the most difficult and rewarding (sometimes) jobs out there. Support from friends, family and other moms is crucial to keeping our sanity.

I recently discovered a website that offers its own kind of support. It is www.momsrising.org . This is a place on the web "where moms and the people who love them go to change our world". Check it out.

Spring is Here....Sort of

Hi Everyone!

Again, it's been awhile. Sorry about that. Spring is just such a busy time. On top of creating some dazzling new baubles for the season (I am thrilled to see that chunky jewelry and tons of gorgeous colors are still part of the latest trends), I am busy training for the Danskin Triathlon that takes place here at the end of September. My partners in crime for the race are a friend I have known since kindergarten, her sister and Marta (my lovely model, friend and rookie bikerider :) ). My biggest concern is that we are going to have to do the swimming portion of the event in Lake Michigan. For those of you who are not from around here, Lake Michigan is barely warm enough for swimming in July...by September only Polar Bear Club members are brave enough to dip their toes in. I'm really hoping that the Danskin event planners have a better option in mind. I just keep telling myself that it's for a good cause (Breast Cancer).

I have a couple of exciting events coming up. Next week I am participating in a fashion show and luncheon at the Chicago Yacht Club. Unfortunately, this event is for members only and not open to the public. Bummer. The other event will take place in my home on May 15th and promises to be a fun filled evening that includes food, fashion, friends and of course, wine. Along with my baubles, there will be other designer jewelry, clothing and accessories available for purchase. And not to worry, although you will feel like you are in an exquisite boutique for the evening, we are all aware of the gloomy economy and promise you loads of fantastic deals to put a "spring" back in your step. See you then!

It's Been Awhile

Hi Everyone!

Gosh I feel like it has been FOREVER since I've written. Not to worry, I haven't deserted you. Just lots going on these days. My son plays on two different hockey teams...he's only 7, and it never ceases to amaze me how one little person can consume so much of my time. I think (OK, hope) that this weekend is the end of it all. I also had the pleasure of attending a really great marketing conference in Orlando in January and another one in Washington DC in February. I got to meet some truly inspiring people. These are the kind of people who have either overcome tremendous obstacles to achieve amazing success or have accomplished more by the ripe old age of 24 than most people have accomplished in their entire lives. The only problem with meeting people like this is that no matter how hard you work or how much you accomplish, you always feel like a slacker. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, I've been working on some fantastic new baubles for spring (now that I actually have a glimmer of hope that we might get there). I also have some great events coming up. Check out my Events page in the coming week for all the details. And of course tell all of your friends about Custom Baubles. Tell them that my baubles are economical retail therapy in these difficult financial times (which I refuse to spend too much time bemoaning...the media does enough of it!)

Until next time...
